Konami Plans More Silent Hill Games in Future Development Waves

Konami intends to continue Silent Hill development, with several projects under consideration for the next stages of the iconic psychological horror franchise’s revival. Series producer Motoi Okamoto discussed the company’s plans in an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. According to him, the games released so far represent only the first wave, and Konami intends to keep moving forward.

Konami Is Planning the Next Waves of Silent Hill

As reported by PC Gamer, Okamoto confirmed that Konami is considering second and third waves of Silent Hill games. However, the company has not revealed specific titles, release windows, or development details for these future projects.

The producer said Konami was pleased with the reception of the three games introduced as part of the franchise’s current revival. All three reached release successfully and received positive responses from critics and players. Their reception has strengthened the company’s confidence in its approach to the series.

Okamoto emphasized that completing the first wave does not mean Konami’s plans are coming to an end. Instead, the company is currently considering several potential projects that could expand the Silent Hill universe in the years ahead.

Three Games That Brought Silent Hill Back

The franchise’s revival has gained momentum through several releases, each offering a different take on psychological horror.

In 2024, Silent Hill 2 was remade by Polish developer Bloober Team. The studio reimagined the acclaimed 2001 game while preserving its central story about James Sunderland, who travels to a mysterious town after receiving a letter from his deceased wife. Updated visuals, a redesigned combat system, and modern presentation introduced the classic to a new generation of players.

In September 2025, Silent Hill f arrived with a major change in setting. For the first time in the main series, the story took place in Japan, during the 1960s. Following Hinako Shimizu, the game combines psychological horror, disturbing bodily transformations, and the unsettling atmosphere of a small Japanese town. Its distinctive setting demonstrated that the franchise could explore new cultural and visual directions without abandoning its defining characteristics.

The next major release was Silent Hill: Townfall, which launched on September 24, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC. Developed by Scottish studio Screen Burn Interactive, it became the first full-length entry in the franchise played entirely from a first-person perspective. The story follows Simon Ordell, who arrives on a fictional island off the coast of Scotland. A device called the CRTV plays an important role in exploration and survival, allowing players to detect signals and uncover crucial information.

Together, these releases demonstrate that Konami is not simply revisiting familiar stories. By working with different development studios, the publisher is giving creative teams room to introduce their own artistic approaches and gameplay mechanics within the same franchise.

What Do We Know About Upcoming Silent Hill Games?

Konami has not disclosed its complete lineup of future projects. However, one project is already known: a remake of the original 1999 Silent Hill is in development at Bloober Team. Following its work on the second game, the studio has the opportunity to revisit the franchise’s origins and introduce the original experience to a modern audience.

The other projects mentioned by Okamoto remain undisclosed. Konami has not confirmed their titles, developers, or potential release dates. There is also no official schedule guaranteeing that a new game will arrive every year.

Nevertheless, the producer’s comments point to a long-term commitment. Rather than relying on one successful remake or a handful of isolated releases, Konami intends to keep expanding the franchise and exploring new ways to tell stories within its unsettling universe.

What Can Fans Expect?

The future of Silent Hill could include both reimaginings of classic games and entirely new stories featuring different protagonists and locations. Previous releases have already shown how much the franchise can vary, from the familiar psychological horror of Silent Hill 2 to the Japanese setting of Silent Hill f and the first-person perspective of Townfall.

For now, it is too early to determine which projects will arrive next or when they will be officially announced. Konami is keeping its plans under wraps, leaving fans to wait for further updates.

The key takeaway is that Silent Hill’s revival will not end with the games already released. If Konami follows through with its plans for a second and third wave, the franchise could continue growing for years to come while preserving its recognizable atmosphere and experimenting with new ideas.
