On August 7, THQ Nordic Showcase 2026 delivered a new selection of trailers, release dates and updates on upcoming projects from the publisher. This year’s presentation was particularly diverse, featuring major franchises such as Gothic alongside new games and several unexpected announcements. THQ Nordic revealed that 29 projects are currently in development, although 12 of them have not yet been officially announced.
Gothic Takes Center Stage Again
One of the biggest surprises of the presentation was Gothic: A Shadow’s Quest, a new board game set in the world of the cult RPG series. The game will return players to the Valley of Mines and is being developed as a tabletop adaptation of the Gothic universe. Its Gamefound campaign is scheduled to launch on September 30, 2026.
Gothic was featured in another part of the showcase as well. THQ Nordic provided an update on Gothic 1 Remake, which has already been released. The developers are continuing to expand the game with features such as a photo mode, mod support and an alternative character progression system.
The publisher also announced the arrival of the classic Gothic trilogy on modern consoles. The first game is already available, while Gothic 2: Complete Classic will launch on September 29, followed by Gothic 3 Classic on November 24.
Titan Quest II Gets a Major Update
One of the most prominent presentations at the THQ Nordic Showcase 2026 was a new trailer for Titan Quest II. The developers showed off Spirit Mastery, a new ability system connected to the forces of the underworld, life and death.
The game remains in Early Access, but it continues to receive new mechanics and content. The latest trailer focused heavily on combat and class abilities, giving players a better idea of the direction the sequel is taking.
Way of the Hunter 2 Gets a Release Date
Fans of hunting simulators now have a date to mark on their calendars. Way of the Hunter 2 will be released on September 29, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The presentation included a new gameplay trailer featuring the game’s natural environments and wildlife. The sequel continues to focus on realistic hunting, diverse animals and the exploration of large open-world locations.
The Eternal Life of Goldman Continues to Impress
Another visually distinctive project featured during the showcase was The Eternal Life of Goldman, an unusual platformer built around a hand-drawn visual style.
The new trailer focused on the game’s art direction, level design and bosses. THQ Nordic has not announced a release date yet, but the game is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
The Guild: Europa 1410 and Wreckfest 2
The Guild: Europa 1410 received a new trailer during the presentation. This medieval dynasty-management simulation lets players build their fortune, pursue political influence and develop their family — not necessarily through completely legal methods. Early Access is scheduled to begin in September.
Meanwhile, Wreckfest 2 returned with another action-packed trailer focused on crashes and destruction. The game continues to evolve in Early Access, with the developers adding new content and improvements.
Expeditions: Samurai Enters Early Access
Tactical strategy game Expeditions: Samurai received a launch trailer and is already available in Early Access on PC. The game features turn-based combat set in feudal Japan.
The developers are planning at least three major updates, which will improve the balance, exploration, stealth and combat systems.
Reanimal Gets New DLC
THQ Nordic also had something for players who are already enjoying its released games. Horror title Reanimal received a new expansion called The Prisoner.
The DLC introduces new locations, puzzles and challenges and was released alongside the showcase. It is another example of the publisher supporting existing projects while continuing to build its upcoming lineup.
THQ Nordic Showcase 2026: Final Thoughts
Unlike major summer presentations from companies such as PlayStation or Xbox, the THQ Nordic Showcase 2026 did not attempt to compete through a huge number of blockbuster AAA announcements. Instead, its main strength was variety.
The showcase featured everything from Gothic and Titan Quest II to racing games, simulations, tactical RPGs and horror. Among the most notable announcements were the surprising Gothic board game, new details about Titan Quest II, the release date for Way of the Hunter 2 and another impressive look at The Eternal Life of Goldman.
At the same time, THQ Nordic clearly has more surprises in store. Of the 29 projects currently in development, 12 remain officially unannounced — meaning there could still be plenty of interesting reveals ahead.
