Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Is Now Available

The full release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is only days away, but players can already experience its single-player campaign. Activision launched campaign early access on October 16, allowing players who purchased the digital edition in advance to begin the next chapter of the Modern Warfare storyline before the official launch.

The full release is scheduled for October 23, 2026, while early access to the DMZ mode is set to begin on October 20. This staggered rollout gives players an opportunity to explore the campaign before the game’s other major modes become available.

A New War on the Korean Peninsula

The story of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 centers on a full-scale North Korean invasion of South Korea. Players will experience the conflict through different perspectives, including that of Private Park Hyun Jun, a young South Korean soldier facing live combat for the first time.

Meanwhile, John Price follows his own path. Operating outside the system he once served, the former operative launches a personal hunt for the people behind the unfolding crisis. As the story progresses, the conflict expands beyond the Korean Peninsula, threatening to trigger a much larger international confrontation.

Infinity Ward promises a combination of large-scale battles, covert operations, and cinematic action sequences. The campaign will take players across several locations, including the Korean Peninsula, New York, Paris, and Mumbai.

According to the official announcement, the campaign features 16 missions. Completing missions also unlocks rewards that can be used in Multiplayer and DMZ when the full game launches.

Modern Warfare 4 Release Date and Platforms

The official release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is October 23, 2026. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are not planned.

Players who digitally pre-ordered the Standard or Vault Edition can access the campaign ahead of the worldwide launch. However, early access is tied to eligible digital purchases, so players should check the terms for their chosen platform and edition.

Here are the key dates to remember:

  • October 16 — Campaign early access begins.
  • October 20 — DMZ early access begins.
  • October 23 — Full game release.

With the campaign already available, players do not need to wait until launch day to begin the story. They can complete missions in advance and earn rewards for use in other modes.

What Comes After Launch?

Beyond the single-player experience, Modern Warfare 4 will include Multiplayer and DMZ. In DMZ, players operate behind enemy lines, pursue objectives, collect valuable resources, and decide when to extract from dangerous areas.

Activision also plans to connect seasonal content between Modern Warfare 4 and Call of Duty: Warzone, expanding the shared experience after launch.

For longtime fans, the upcoming release marks another chapter in Captain Price’s story, while newcomers can use the campaign to get acquainted with the game’s setting and characters. The combination of a new military conflict, multiple locations, and different gameplay modes gives the latest entry several ways to appeal to players.

With the full release scheduled for October 23, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is entering its final countdown. Campaign early access is already underway, and DMZ will follow shortly before the worldwide launch.
