GTA VI once again takes players to modern-day Vice City, but the city is only one part of the much larger state of Leonida. Rockstar has filled the world with busy streets, beaches, rural areas, highways and countless small details designed to make the environment feel alive.
Pedestrians interact with each other, different areas have their own atmosphere, and the world appears to continue functioning even when the player is not directly involved.
Rather than focusing only on map size, Rockstar seems determined to make Leonida feel like a believable place.
Jason and Lucia Take Center Stage
The new GTA VI gameplay provides a much closer look at Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, the game’s two protagonists.
Lucia has recently left prison and is determined to build a better life, while Jason has spent years working with criminals across Leonida. Their relationship is at the heart of the story, with both characters repeatedly finding themselves caught in increasingly dangerous situations.
The showcase also highlights the ability to switch between Jason and Lucia during certain sequences. This allows players to experience events from different perspectives while emphasizing the importance of their partnership.
Heists, Shootouts and Police Chases
Of course, GTA VI would not be GTA without plenty of crime and chaos.
The new footage features robberies, shootouts, vehicle chases and encounters with the police. Rockstar also shows more detailed interactions during criminal activities, including different ways for Jason and Lucia to approach situations and escape trouble.

Rockstar has confirmed that the Extended Look was captured entirely from PlayStation 5 footage. The showcase highlights detailed character animations, lighting, reflections, vehicles, vegetation and densely populated environments.
After years of waiting, the footage finally gives players a much clearer idea of what Rockstar’s next-generation open world is going to look like.
GTA VI Release Date
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a PC release date yet.
The Extended Look does not reveal everything about GTA VI, but it is easily the most substantial official presentation of the game so far.
After years of trailers, speculation and leaks, players have finally received almost 30 minutes of footage created and presented by Rockstar itself.
