Ubisoft has released a new extended trailer for Rayman Legends Retold, offering a detailed look at the game’s story, gameplay and new features. The six-minute overview trailer shows how the reimagined platformer expands on the original 2013 game with new content, redesigned visuals and additional gameplay mechanics.
A New Take on a Familiar Adventure
At its core, Rayman Legends Retold remains a fast-paced side-scrolling platformer built around jumping, combat and exploration. However, Ubisoft has expanded the original concept with a new story, redesigned visuals and fully voiced cinematic scenes.
The story follows Rayman, Globox, Barbara, Grand Minimus and Murphy as they attempt to restore peace to the Glade of Dreams. A mysterious threat is spreading corruption across the different realms, while the Dark Teensies are causing trouble throughout the world.
The remake also introduces a completely new sixth realm, Land of the Livid Dead, which becomes available progressively as players move through the adventure.
Dragon Rides and New Abilities
One of the new gameplay additions shown in the trailer is dragon riding. During these sections, players must fight enemies while riding through the world and helping deliver Teensies to safety.
Rayman and his friends will also gain access to new abilities, including Fairy Radiance. The new powers are tied to the expanded gameplay and give players additional ways to deal with obstacles and enemies.
Another addition is the Cave of Trials, which offers dedicated challenges for players who want to test their platforming skills.
Musical stages are also returning from the original Rayman Legends. This time, Ubisoft is adding four completely new musical levels alongside the returning favorites.
Four-Player Couch Co-op Returns
Rayman Legends Retold can be played solo or in local co-op with up to four players. The entire adventure is designed to support couch co-op, allowing friends and family to play together on the same system.
The popular Kung Foot mode is also returning in an updated form. The new version features additional arenas, power-ups and customizable rules, giving players more ways to compete outside the main adventure.
New Music, Customization and Rayman Origins
The remake also features an expanded soundtrack combining returning themes with new compositions from Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope. The game’s cinematic sequences will now be fully voiced, adding more personality to the expanded story.
Players will also be able to unlock different outfits and customize their characters.
Another major bonus is Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, which is included with the standard edition of Rayman Legends Retold. The enhanced version features 4K visuals, new collectibles and rewards, as well as various quality-of-life improvements.
Rayman Legends Retold Release Date
Rayman Legends Retold was originally scheduled to launch on October 1, 2026. Ubisoft later delayed the game, and it is now scheduled to release on December 3, 2026.
The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, as well as through GeForce Now and Blacknut.
The new overview trailer makes it clear that Ubisoft is doing more than simply updating the graphics of the classic platformer. Rayman Legends Retold adds a new story, a sixth realm, new abilities, dragon rides, additional musical stages and expanded multiplayer features while keeping the fast-paced platforming that made the original popular.
Players will now have to wait until December to see how all of these additions come together in the finished game.
