Microsoft has officially introduced Xbox backward compatibility on PC, allowing players to enjoy classic original Xbox games directly on Windows. The long-awaited feature is currently available in early access, but it has already become one of the biggest gaming stories of the week.
The first wave includes four classic Xbox titles:
- Blinx: The Time Sweeper
- Conker: Live and Reloaded
- Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
- Fuzion Frenzy
These games are available for individual purchase and are also included with Xbox Game Pass. They can be played on Windows 11 PCs as well as Microsoft’s new handheld devices, the Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X.
Rather than simply emulating the original versions, Xbox backward compatibility on PC includes several modern enhancements. Players can enjoy up to 4K resolution, VSync support, improved anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, and the option to play in either fullscreen or windowed mode. Microsoft has also confirmed that Xbox achievements, additional language support, and more quality-of-life improvements will be added in future updates.
According to Xbox Vice President Jason Ronald, this launch is only the first step in Microsoft’s broader effort to preserve the Xbox gaming legacy. The company plans to continue expanding the catalog of compatible titles, giving PC players an official way to experience more classic Xbox exclusives without relying on third-party emulators.

The announcement has generated significant excitement across the gaming community. Many players see the initiative as an important milestone in game preservation, while also making older Xbox exclusives accessible to a new audience. Popular fan requests already include titles such as Jet Set Radio Future, Fable II, MechAssault, and several other beloved classics. However, licensing agreements for certain games may prevent some titles from ever becoming available on PC.
For Microsoft, the introduction of Xbox backward compatibility on PC is another step toward strengthening the Xbox ecosystem. The company’s strategy increasingly focuses on making games available across multiple platforms, including Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, cloud gaming, and handheld devices. Bringing classic Xbox titles to PC fits perfectly into that vision.
Although the feature is still in its early stages, it marks an important moment for Xbox fans. If Microsoft continues to expand the supported library, PC players will finally have an official, convenient, and high-quality way to revisit some of the most iconic games from the original Xbox era.
