Rockstar Games has unexpectedly announced a new presentation of its upcoming blockbuster, this time in partnership with the streaming service. GTA 6 on Netflix will be featured on August 27 in a special presentation titled Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look. This marks an unusual move for Rockstar, as major promotional material for one of the most anticipated games in the industry has not previously been presented through Netflix.
When Will the New GTA VI Footage Be Shown?
The presentation will premiere on August 27 at 3:00 PM ET. Netflix subscribers will be able to watch the extended look first, while the video will become available several hours later on Rockstar Games’ official YouTube channel and the GTA VI website at 9:00 PM ET.
This temporary exclusivity has already attracted considerable attention from the gaming community. Many fans were surprised that Rockstar chose a streaming platform for the initial presentation of its biggest upcoming release. The partnership also gives Netflix another opportunity to strengthen its presence in the gaming industry.
What Will Rockstar Show?
Rockstar has not yet revealed exactly what will be included in Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look. It is therefore unclear whether the presentation will function as a third major trailer, a longer gameplay showcase, or a combination of gameplay footage and new story scenes.
The title An Extended Look suggests that Rockstar is preparing a more detailed presentation of the game rather than simply releasing another short trailer. Fans are particularly interested in learning more about Jason and Lucia, Vice City and the wider state of Leonida.
The timing is also important because GTA VI has already been delayed. The game was originally scheduled to launch on May 26, 2026, but Rockstar later moved the release date to November 19, 2026. GTA VI is currently planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Why Is the Netflix Showcase Important?
The collaboration between Rockstar and Netflix makes the upcoming presentation unusual in its own right. Netflix has been steadily expanding its involvement in gaming, while GTA VI is arguably one of the biggest entertainment releases of the coming years.
For Netflix, securing temporary exclusivity for new GTA VI footage could help attract attention to its gaming ambitions. For Rockstar, the partnership provides another way to turn the next GTA reveal into a major entertainment event rather than simply another trailer release.
At this point, Rockstar has not confirmed how extensive the presentation will be. However, after years of anticipation, virtually any new GTA VI footage is guaranteed to become a major topic across the gaming industry. GTA 6 on Netflix has already generated plenty of discussion, and on August 27 fans will finally discover whether Rockstar has prepared a truly substantial showcase or simply a more detailed look at previously revealed material.
