PHYSINT reveals its new publisher and lead actor
One of the biggest stories from Tokyo Game Show 2026 was the latest update on Hideo Kojima’s PHYSINT. During the Xbox Tokyo Game Show Broadcast, Kojima confirmed his collaboration with Xbox, while Bill Skarsgård was revealed as the game’s lead actor.
The cast also includes Charlee Fraser, Don Lee and Minami Hamabe. PHYSINT is being developed as a new action-espionage game and has often been described as a spiritual successor to Metal Gear. Kojima has called it a major project representing the culmination of more than 40 years of his career in game development. A release date has not yet been announced.
Persona 4 Revival gets a release date
SEGA and ATLUS brought Persona 4 Revival to the show with an important update. The remake now has a confirmed release date: February 18, 2027.
The game was also featured during Xbox’s TGS presentation, with new footage and additional details. Persona 4 Revival is set to bring the classic RPG to modern platforms and PC, while familiar characters including Naoto return to the story.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation goes playable
Square Enix made Final Fantasy VII Revelation one of the main attractions at its TGS booth. Visitors were able to play a demo of the upcoming game, which represents the final chapter of the modern Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy.
The demo featured Vincent and Cid as playable characters and introduced more details about the new FITS System. Square Enix has confirmed an April 8, 2027 release date for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expands the hunt
Capcom brought Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance to Tokyo Game Show 2026 with new gameplay details. The expansion will introduce the Skybound Eyrie region, new monsters and the return of the iconic Lao-Shan Lung.
The expansion will also introduce the Boost Bracer system, giving hunters new ways to build and unleash powerful attacks. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is currently scheduled for release in 2027.
Wo Long 2 and Xbox’s major lineup
Xbox had a particularly busy presence at Tokyo Game Show 2026. One of the major announcements was Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, which is scheduled to launch on March 4, 2027.
The presentation also featured Gachiakuta: Breakout, Crazy Taxi: World Tour and Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement. Microsoft additionally showed a new trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which is scheduled for October 23, 2026.
Stranger Than Heaven takes the spotlight
SEGA also placed significant attention on Stranger Than Heaven, the upcoming title from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. The game received a playable demo, stage presentations and dedicated theater content during the event.
Stranger Than Heaven is scheduled to launch on January 15, 2027, for Xbox, PC and PlayStation 5.
More Japanese games at TGS 2026
The show also featured a broad lineup from other Japanese publishers. Koei Tecmo presented Wo Long 2, Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered and Attack on Titan 3. Konami showcased Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, Silent Hill: Townfall and several other projects, while also celebrating major anniversaries for Castlevania and Ganbare Goemon.
