CONTROL Resonant: Final Trailer and First Reviews

The release of CONTROL Resonant is now just days away, and Remedy Entertainment has released the game’s final launch trailer. At the same time, the first full reviews have arrived, offering an early look at how the sequel compares with the original Control and what players can expect when the game launches on September 24.

The Final CONTROL Resonant Trailer

The official launch trailer was released on September 17, exactly one week before launch. Remedy uses the video to showcase Dylan Faden, a distorted version of Manhattan, supernatural abilities, fast-paced combat and enormous enemies.

One of the major highlights is Dylan’s new weapon, the Aberrant. It can take different forms and plays an important role in the game’s combat system. Dylan can also use paranormal abilities to move through the city and fight enemies.

The trailer is accompanied by “My Favourite Game” by The Cardigans, continuing Remedy’s use of recognizable music in the game’s marketing campaign.

The launch trailer also contains several story and gameplay scenes, so players who want to experience as much as possible without additional information may want to approach it carefully.

What Are the First Reviews Saying?

The review embargo was lifted on September 18, almost a week before release. Early reviews have been largely positive, although critics have also pointed out several weaknesses.

One of the biggest changes in CONTROL Resonant is its combat system. Instead of relying primarily on the shooting mechanics of the original, the sequel puts much more emphasis on close-range combat, Dylan’s supernatural abilities and different forms of the Aberrant.

RPG Site awarded the game 9/10, praising its world design, exploration, story and distinctive Remedy atmosphere. The review also notes that the opening hours are less impressive before the game becomes more compelling as it progresses.

TechRadar also praised the larger world and exploration. The review highlights the game’s art direction, open-ended environments and smooth traversal mechanics. However, it points to enemies with large health pools and a combat system that takes some time to fully develop.

Other reviews have focused on the game’s increased scale. Instead of keeping players primarily inside the Oldest House, Remedy expands the setting into a distorted Manhattan where buildings, streets and even the rules of physical space can change.

Dylan Takes the Lead

One of the biggest differences in CONTROL Resonant is its protagonist. This time, players take control of Dylan Faden, Jesse Faden’s brother.

The story revolves around Dylan’s search for Jesse and a new paranormal crisis that spreads beyond the Oldest House. Manhattan has been transformed by supernatural forces, forcing Dylan to deal with both his developing abilities and the strange events surrounding him.

PlayStation Blog notes that Dylan has a very different personality from Jesse, while his abilities give him greater mobility across the game’s larger environments. His movement options include double jumps, air dashes and additional traversal abilities unlocked during the adventure.

CONTROL Resonant Release Date

CONTROL Resonant launches on September 24, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The digital release will arrive across the main platforms on the same date, while physical editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will follow later.

The first reviews suggest that Remedy has avoided making a simple continuation of the original Control. The studio has significantly changed the combat system, expanded the world and placed Dylan at the center of the story while retaining the surreal atmosphere that defined the series.

Now the final test is just days away: the full release will show how well Remedy’s larger world and redesigned combat work in the hands of players.
